Vice President of Research

Sarah Jane (SJ) Glynn, Vice President of Research at Gender Equity Policy Institute, is a labor sociologist and policy expert with experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research at the national, state, and local level. Prior to joining GEPI, she was Chief Economist at the U.S. Department of Labor during the Biden–Harris administration and previously served as Senior Advisor in the Department’s Women’s Bureau.

Glynn was formerly a Senior Advisor and Director of Women’s Economic Policy at the Center for American Progress. She has held Fellowships at the Roosevelt Institute, the National Academy of Social Insurance, and elsewhere. Glynn has authored numerous influential publications on women’s economic security, the care economy, and workplace benefits. She has testified before Congress and provided technical assistance to elected officials across all levels of government. Her research has been used in federal and state policy decisions. Frequently cited in leading publications, she has also appeared on MSNBC, PBS, FOX News, and Bloomberg. Glynn is a native of northern California. She holds a PhD in Sociology from Vanderbilt University.
